GPW to relocate after nearly three decades on Fifth Avenue
After almost three decades, the principle office of Goldberg, Persky & White, P.C. is relocating. Effective Friday, Oct. 2, the firm will move from its 1030 Fifth Avenue location across from Consol Energy Center to 11 Stanwix Street in the Key Bank Building.
“After looking at many properties in Pittsburgh and trying to stay in Uptown, we toured the 11 Stanwix space and it felt like the right fit,” said Managing Shareholder Dave Chervenick. “Leaving our location at 1030 Fifth Avenue is sad because of all the time spent here, dating back to when we were Henderson and Goldberg, but we look forward to a bright future downtown.”
As pioneers in asbestos litigation, GPW began its work by caring for those with cancer and asbestosis developed after years spent in steel mills and chemical factories to earn a living. Originally located in the Frick Building, the office moved to Fifth Avenue in 1986 as the firm began to expand.
Today, the firm continues the tradition of caring for injured individuals by providing compassionate legal counsel and seeking to change the circumstances that caused the injury. Additional practice areas include car accidents, medical malpractice and toxic exposures, including asbestos and benzene, among many more.
The most recent addition is sports-related brain injuries. GPW Shareholder Jason Luckasevic worked with Dr. Bennet Omalu, the doctor responsible for the discovery of chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), to originate the NFL concussion litigation and fight for the players who didn’t realize the long-term and potentially life-threatening damage occurring in their brains. Recently, the firm worked with the Brain Injury Association of Pennsylvania to promote brain safety in high school football.
“We believe we can better serve individuals from our new location, where there will be more parking and easy access to the Parkway,” said Chervenick. “We will continue to help individuals suffering from lung cancer and mesothelioma after working with asbestos products; people with leukemia from working with benzene; former NFL players dealing with the long-term effects of concussions and helping those injured by the negligence of others. ”
