Asbestos Lawsuits, Ohio, & Experience

Thousands of Americans were exposed to asbestos on the job in Ohio. However, knowing the places you worked, what products were used there, and having the corroborating testimony of coworkers are all important factors in successfully pursuing your asbestos lawsuit in Ohio.

Malignant Mesothelioma in Ohio’s Counties

Between 1999 and 2010, 1,410 deaths were attributed to mesothelioma in Ohio. Nationwide, mesothelioma claimed 29,827 people, making Ohio rank number 7 out of 51 (all 50 states plus the District of Columbia). Only 6 other states suffered from more mesothelioma deaths than Ohio.

In order to more accurately compare deaths, instead of using raw numbers, as reported above, epidemiologists often use age-adjusted death rates. Age adjusted death rates take into account the average age of residents, as a county or state with an older average age is naturally going to see more deaths than an area with a younger average age.

Between 2000 and 2009, the following Ohio counties have the highest age-adjusted death rates from malignant mesothelioma (only Ohio counties with at least 10 mesothelioma deaths are included):
