Charles J. McLeigh
Charlie McLeigh is a shareholder with Goldberg, Persky & White. He has represented asbestos victims and their families exclusively since he became a lawyer in 1994. He has assisted individuals in asbestos related matters in Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia.
Biography
Charlie is licensed to practice law in the state courts of Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia and is admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio, the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania and the United States District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia.
He graduated from Saint Vincent College in Latrobe, Pennsylvania in 1986 and received his law degree from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1993. He is a member of various state and local bar associations as well as the American Association for Justice and the Public Justice Foundation. He lives in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Charlie has extensive litigation experience, having prepared hundreds of cases for trial. He is personally involved with representing his clients from the time of their initial contact with the firm, through their deposition and the depositions of other fact witnesses, corporate representatives and expert witnesses, as well as briefing and arguing pretrial motions, negotiating settlements and trying cases. His efforts have resulted in many millions of dollars in compensation for his clients.
Because asbestos diseases don’t develop until many years after the exposures occurred, lawyers and law firms representing asbestos victims have a big advantage if they can draw upon evidence they developed in past cases. Charlie has become very familiar with many of the industrial facilities where his clients worked, including some of the larger sites in Ohio such as Ormet, Olin Matheson, Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel, Youngstown Sheet & Tube, various Republic Steel facilities, Empire Detroit Steel, Armco Steel, Timken, Ashland Oil, Sammis Power Station, RE Burger Power Station and many other facilities. In addition he has become very familiar with the asbestos products that were made and sold by a large number of companies during the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s. This knowledge is invaluable when piecing together the details of his clients’ asbestos exposures that occurred many years ago.
Charlie has a thorough understanding of the medical and scientific aspects of his cases, having worked with many expert witnesses in their role as consultants in his cases. He has extensive experience preparing for and deposing medical and scientific consultants employed by the asbestos companies, as well as the corporate representatives of those companies.
Please feel free to call or e-mail Charlie today if you have any questions about asbestos related diseases and your legal rights.
PRACTICE AREAS
We have a long history of litigation for mesothelioma, lung cancer, asbestosis, and related cancers caused by asbestos exposure.
Much has been done to improve the safety of those whose occupations put them at greater risk, but there are still times when safety takes a hit, whether through carelessness or outright negligence. Our occupational disease lawyers are familiar with the types of disease, cancers, and injuries caused by various exposures and understand the industries typically involved.
Asbestos, benzine, lead, and other substances are known causes of occupational diseases. Contact us if you think you are suffering as a result of these hazards.
